Food Review | Tiong Bahru Yong Tao Hu

Went Leisure Park Kallang after work to get a new washing machine from Mega Discount Store. Once done, time for dinner. Walked around in search for food and happen to come across this Tiong Bahru Yong Tao Hu. A lousy foodie me who didn't even know of this existence. I only know the one at People's Park Food Centre that always have a long queue and sold out even before lunch time end.

This place served authentic Hakka Yong Tao Hu that are freshly made and in their menu, there are different combinations to choose from; dry, soup or laksa base, yellow noodles, beehoon or kway teow or any two. Sides like otah, prawn rolls, veggie and big fishcake. Here our picks:

Signature Yong Tao Hu (Dry) with Yellow Noodles $7.20

Simple bowl of YTH, mixed with sweet and chilli sauce. Just like any YTH. But here, you don't get to choose the ingredients but take what is given. Tofu, fishballs and beancurd skin wrapped with fish stuffing. But the noodles portion was not a lot even though we got a Large one.

Yong Tao Hu Laksa with Beehoon + Yellow Noodles $6.60

This laksa base was good and not diluted. Same amount of ingredients given like their Signature. Always love having yellow mee, sometimes adding beehoon to it. I always believe that yellow mee has this good absorption of taste when cooked.

Big Fish Cake $3.50

According to the culinary instinct of my husband, he said that in order to achieve such crisps on the outside without losing the taste and moist on the inside, it required the hot oil and fast frying. Nice and I love it so much.

For thirst quencher, we ordered a Iced Barley and Lime at $1.80 each.

Overall, it was alright but the noodles portion isn't that filling and definitely not worth the price. But apparently, it seems like by 8+ at night, their food were sold out. So probably it was good in others' opinion.
